EMILIA ROMAGNA, is known for many Italian iconic food ingredients such as the parmesan cheese, the balsamic vinegar, the ravioli and tortellini and many more. It is also home of supercar legends such as Ferrari, Maserati and Lamborghini (* see points B and C under “CONCERTS / ACTIVITIES”).

It is a region full of cities of art, pretty villages and landscapes and the oldest sovereign Republic in the world–– the tiny SAN MARINO (abt 23 sq. miles). It is also one of the most popular Italian regions and one of the most loved destination for families who want to spend their summer holidays on sandy beaches with shallow water. In fact the coast line is dotted with many  “Family Hotels”, among the best in Italy (** possibility of extending the holiday for a minimum of 3 nights period in one of these beautiful hotels with private beach facilities – see point 6 under “ADDITIONAL OPTIONAL ACTIVITIES” ) .

Last, but not least, the area is also famous for its amusement parks for the fun of adults, teen agers and children of all ages.

1° day

Sunday: Milan Malpensa - Modena

Arrival in Milan Malpensa. Transfer to Modena. Check-in at the hotel and accommodation. Meeting with the guide for a guided tour of the historic center of the city. Modena is a beautiful town with a very pleasant and elegant historic center. We will leisurely walk around and look at its beautiful buildings, old arcades and monuments, arriving at the impressive synagogue beautifully located in one of the city’s squares. This square was built around one of the areas of the old ghetto demolished after the unification of Italy in 1859. Modena is also home to some of the most iconic supercars brands like Ferrari and Maserati and the world famous culinary delicacies: Balsamic vinegar. In the evening, return to the hotel, dinner with kosher meals and overnight stay.

2° day

Monday: Modena - Cimone Adventure Park - Modena

Breakfast at the hotel and departure for the Cimone Adventure Park. The Adventure Park is immerse in the thick woods of the Apennines mountain range and it is suitable for the whole family. It is also an ideal place to spend a day in nature. Tibetan and Tyrolean bridges, climbing walls, quads and toboggans are just some of the activities on offer, to be tried in complete safety to experience the thrill of a real adventure. Lunch and snacks during the excursion. In the evening, return to the hotel, dinner and overnight.

3° day

Tuesday: Modena - San Marino - Gradara - Modena

Breakfast at the hotel. Departure by luxury coach for the Republic of San Marino, about a 2 hours drive.
San Marino is the third smallest country in Europe with its area of 23.55 sq miles and the oldest Republic in the world established in unmemorable times (most probably in the late 3rd century a.d.). Perched on top of a cliff, we will walk through its streets and arcades that offer incredible panoramic views all around, including the Adriatic sea coast. Packed lunch. From here we will be able to see also our next destination: Gradara and its suggestive small historic hamlet and famous fortress right at its top. Gradara's castle, which has become one of the most visited monuments in the region hosts also a museum of music and art. Lunch and snack during the excursion.
Return to Modena for dinner and overnight stay.

4° day

Wednesday: Modena - Sirmione (Lake Garda)

Breakfast at the hotel. Departure for Sirmione, one of the most beautiful and picturesque sites on Lake Garda, the largest lake in Italy. Check in the hotel, to be followed by a guided tour of Sirmione. At the end of the visit we will take a boat trip on the Lake where we will admire a spectacular mix of architecture and nature: we will be skirting the peninsula of Sirmione and moving towards the Rocca di Manerba, a massive cliff on the southern part of Lake Garda. We will pass by the San Biagio and Garda islands and proceed towards the magnificent Costa Romantica between Salò and the Gardone Riviera. Time permitting, we will reach Gargnano, a lovely village that became the unlikely headquarter of Mussolini and his overturned Fascist government after the coup that in 1943 brought the Badoglio government to sign an armistice with the Allies. Packed lunch either on the boat or in one of the villages we will be skirting. After this break we will sail towards the Gulf of Garda to see the magnificent Villa Canossa. The tour will end back in Sirmione. Dinner and overnight.

5° day

Thursday: Sirmione (Lake Garda)

Breakfast and check out. Day by one of the two most famous amusement parks along the southern shores of Lake Garda both geared to amuse and entertain children and adults as well: Movieland and Gardaland . Return to Sirmione for dinner and overnigh.

6° day

Friday: Sirmione - Malpensa Airport

Breakfast and hotel check-out, departure for Malpensa airport

Notes

ADDITIONAL OPTIONAL ACTIVITIES (1 or day each except for nr 6* which requires a minimun of 3 nights):

1) For Opera lovers and fans of Giuseppe Verdi, a trip to his beautiful hometown, Busseto;

2) VISIT TO MANTOVA or FERRARA (1 day each): two Renaissance pearls that once had thriving Jewish communities. Ferrara also hosts the MEIS, one of the largest Jewish museums in Europe;

3) VISIT OF THE CITY OF RAVENNA, former capital of the Byzantine Western Roman Empire and its beautiful mosaics and works of art;  MIRABILANDIA amusement park is also nearby – FYI: both places require a full day visit.

4) VISIT TO VERONA, the beautiful city of Romeo and Juliet

5) A day in one of the many amusement parks in Romagna: Italia in Miniatura, Cattolica Aquarium, Acquafan, Oltremare.

* 6) Possibility of extending the holiday for a minimum of 3 nights period in one of the beautiful “Family Hotels” with private beach facilities along the coast line of Emilia Romagna.

  1. A) Concert or opera at the Roman Arena in Verona OR at the world famous Teatro alla Scala in Milan, OR at the Busseto theater, birthplace of Giuseppe Verdi, OR at the magnificent Teatro Regio in Parma (all in season);

*B) Visit to the Ferrari factory and museum with the possibility of road testing;

* C) Visit to the Lamborghini factory and museum with the possibility of visiting its assembly line;

  1. D) Shopping in a branded outlet;
